The conversation will be moderated by Cory Bergman of MSNBC, an expert on the future of local media through LostRemote.com and MyBallard.com.

| Kery Murakami Seattle PostGlobe | Kery Murakami is leading the effort to start Seattle PostGlobe, a daily news site with 29 former PI journalists in partnership with KCTS 9 and KPLU. The entities will begin by working together and sharing stories at but are exploring jointly creating a new non-profit news organization. The initial PostGlobe site is expected to launch the week of April 12. Murakami has been a professional journalist for 20 years. Before being laid off he spent the last nine years as a reporter at the P-I, where he covered City Hall during the Schell administration, the monorail debate and most recently did stories about the SLUT, the closing of neighborhood dives, smoke-easies and other tales from the city. He also covered state politics as a Seattle Times statehouse reporter. |
| Rita Hibbard InvestigateWest | Rita Hibbard is a former assistant managing editor for news of the Seattle P-I who led a high performing newsroom to national recognition and was instrumental in its transition from print-focused to digitally driven. As direct editor of the investigative team, her reporters covered issues from corrupt cops to clear cutting Boy Scouts to government officials whose cronyism cost military families housing and taxpayers millions of dollars. Rita is a leader of InvestigateWest, a new effort to preserve the investigative, narrative, and enterprising core of journalism. With her team, Rita seeks to find new ways to tell the defining stories of the West and engage new audiences in enhancing democracy and community. |
